Artemy Kalinovsky is Assistant Professor of East European Studies at the University of Amsterdam. With a PhD and MA in International History from the London School of Economics and a BA from George Washington University, Dr. Kalinovsky specalises in the history of the Cold War. His current research focuses on the politics and practices of development in Soviet Central Asia. In his latest publication, Laboratory of Social Development, Dr Kalinovsky investigates Cold War politics and practices of economic development in Central Asia between World War II and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
