event description
While the whole world is exposed to daily reports about the deterioration of relations between Russia and the West, through threats and the implementation of sanctions, it is essential to measure whether a new conflict between two blocks is a reality. To what extent is the present set-up similar or different from the Cold War period? To analyse and explain what is really at stake for both parties entwined in the war in Ukraine, a case study of their rivalry, but also of the coordination in Syria may be of great use. Indeed, many of the steps for damage control set on the international stage have resulted from agreements between the US and Russia, with the consent of Israel.
