About Effective Altruism
Effective Altruism is a research field and practical community that aims to find the best ways to help others, and put them into practice. Some things Effective Altruists focus on include effective global health interventions, unconditional cash transfers in low-income countries, campaigning against factory farming, and researching technical and governance interventions to ensure positive impacts from new technologies like synthetic biotechnology and artificial intelligence.
Impact Seminar in Geneva
From April 24 to May 29, 2023, the Centre for Finance and Development, EA Lausanne and EA Geneva will jointly be hosting a weekly Impact Seminar on Effective Altruism (E.A.) for students from the Geneva Graduate Institute.
The Impact Seminar is a 5-week programme centred on discussions around how to do good most effectively, including methodologies, key cause areas, and career planning.
Snacks will be provided.
Programme
The programme of the 6-session Impact Seminar is based on The Effective Altruism Handbook and consists of a series of articles which will introduce students to some of the core thinking tools behind effective altruism, share some of the arguments about which global problems are most pressing, and help students to reflect on how they personally can contribute.
