Elke van Hellemont is an assistant professor in Criminology at the University of Ken, Canterbury. She was awarded a PhD in Criminology by the University of Leuven, Belgium. Her research interests fall within the study of social deviance with particular interest in the study of the seduction of crime within the processes of globalization. Elke is currently engaged in disseminating the findings of her PhD research, which consisted of a multi-method study, including an 18-month ethnography with Congolese gangs in Brussels.
