Join us at the Fab for a chat with Chilean Ambassador to the UN, Claudia Fuentes Julio where we will explore the futures of Chile as well as learn more about her personal experiences as a diplomat.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Fuentes Julio had been serving as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Peace Studies at Chapman University in the United States since 2021. Before that, she was an Associate Professor at the Department of Politics of Government at the Alberto Hurtado University in Chile from 2019 to 2020, and an Assistant Professor at the International Relations Institute at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from 2014 to 2019.

Also during her teaching career, Ms. Fuentes Julio gave courses at the Diplomatic Academy of Chile between 2011 to 2015, and at the Diplomatic Academy of Brazil from 2015 to 2017. She also taught at the University of Denver and was an Associate Researcher at the Latin American Faculty for Social Sciences in Chile, among other posts.

Within the United Nations system, Ms. Fuentes Julio worked as a consultant with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research in 2019 and 2020, and with the United Nations Development Programme between 2011 and 2015.

Ms. Fuentes Julio has a PhD in international studies from the University of Denver in the United States. She also has a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, and a diploma in journalism from the University of Santiago Chile.
