Sustainable IT refers to the efforts to reduce the environmental impact of digital technologies, from energy consumption to electronic waste, while promoting ethical and responsible usage. As part of our commitment to sustainability, the Institute has signed a Sustainable IT Charter, outlining specific initiatives such as promoting awareness and implementing green IT solutions within our community.

“Sustainable IT Day" will feature a variety of activities at the Geneva Graduate Institute, the University of Geneva and the HES-SO, including a public evening event at Uni Dufour. At the Institute, we organize a workshop on:

Digital technology and mental health: from risks to well-being

On average, people spend over 6 hours a day online, much of it on social media and digital platforms. This constant connectivity has led to growing concerns about digital addiction, with technologies designed to capture and commodify our attention. The workshop will delve into the mental health risks associated with excessive online engagement, including anxiety, depression, and disrupted sleep, and provide practical strategies for mitigating these effects.

The workshop, open to all who are interested, will be led by Prof. Souhail Belhadj Klaz and take place in room S12, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Coffee and tea will be offered at the Fab at 8:00 a.m.
