Located in northern Canada, Fort McMurray is home of the Athabasca Oil Sands, the largest industrial project and the third largest oil reserve on the planet. A place of unbridled opportunities where dreams can be fulfilled. Here, people from all over the world pursue their fortunes. Dark Eden explores the ecological impact and reality behind the dream of a better life. 

This documentary (2018, 80 minutes, in English and German with English subtitles) will be followed by a panel discussion with:

  • Oli Brown, Associate Fellow, Energy, Environment and Resources Programme, Chatham House

  • Stéphane Canetta, Founder of mediActivism

  • Giacomo Luciani, Co-director of the Executive Master in Oil and Gas Leadership, the Graduate Institute, Geneva (moderator)

  • María Mendiluce, Managing Director, Climate & Energy, Cities & Mobility and Circular Economy, World Business Council for Sustainable Development

The screening is organised in partnership with the Festival du Film Vert and the Geneva Environment Network.

Entry is free, however seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
