Harald Fischer-Tiné is Chair of History of the Modern World at ETH Zurich. Previously, he was Professor of History at the Jacobs University Bremen (2006-2008) and Senior Research Assistant at Humboldt University, Berlin (2000-2006). He obtained his PhD and habilitation in 2000 and 2007 respectively, from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. In 2012, he was Fellow in Residence at the Lichtenberg Kolleg of the University of Göttingen, Germany. His research interests include transnational and global history, the history of South Asia (18th - 20th century) and the history of colonialism and imperialism.
