This second session of the Inspiring Peacemakers series builds upon the foundation laid in the first session held on 18 September 2024 which addressed an important question "Where and how do we start our journey as a young peacemaker in our violent world today?" while emphasising the practical and collaborative pathways to peace. The focus on trade and investment in peacebuilding, for this second session, aims to expand the conversation and bring in an interdisciplinary approach by discussing the linkages between economic cooperation, innovation and peace with experts from prominent organisations in the field notably the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). This is a unique opportunity to engage with global leaders, discuss new approaches, and network with like-minded professionals.
This session will explore the question: "How can Trade and Innovation foster Sustainable Peace?" with two renowned speakers:
- Sean Doherty - Head of International Trade & Investment at the World Economic Forum, overseeing global initiatives on trade policy, including the E15 Initiative and the Global Future Council on Trade & FDI.
- Kérshia Cavele - Project Coordinator of the Trade for Peace (T4P) Programme, World Trade Organisation
Guest of honour:
- H.E. Ms. Nina Tornberg, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sweden to the WTO, Chair of the Working Party on the Accession of Somalia to the WTO
Moderator:
- Milzat Salime, Vice President, Peacebuilding Initiative
