Bank profitability and moral hazard
Abstract: We investigate bank profitability and risk taking attitudes in bank lending. Using a novel dataset from the credit registry of an emerging economy, we study lending dynamics and bank profitability in an oligopolistic market. Our preliminary results suggest that the most profitable banks are also driving the most risky loans to domestic firms.
