The proliferation and mass use of Generative AI tools has been hailed by some as ushering a new era of creativity and innovation.

This webinar seeks to explore how Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Copilot will impact the practice of diplomacy. The webinar will focus on how AI tools can be used to create highly believable forms of disinformation of "real fakes", ranging from official memos to minutes of diplomatic meetings that never took place or false images of military activities. The webinar will ask whether AI tools will facilitate the end of diplomacy as the distinction between the "real" and the "fake" collapses.

We are excited to present a series of online webinars as part of the Science and Technology in International Relations Study Group at the Institute. These sessions will explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and international affairs, featuring distinguished guest speakers who will share insights on topics such as AI governance, global security, ethics, and the role of emerging technologies in diplomacy.
