Abstract:

This research has several objectives: to study the aims and objectives of the Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship Programme, analyse the emergence of global knowledge, and evaluate the practices of modernisation in the home countries of fellows. The project will critically explore processes of globalisation by using the Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship Programme (1917 - 1970) as an entry point. Research for this project will encompass both administrative and institutional history, as well as an analysis of the network of interpersonal relations on a global scale, which was created by the Rockefeller Foundation. The study of scholarship programmes will serve as a methodological reference to conduct further research on other programmes. It is important to note that the Rockefeller Foundation Programme became a model for other fellowship programmes, such as the Fulbright Programme as well as programmes of organisations in the United Nations system.
