START YOUR DAY WITH LIVE MUSIC AND COFFEE/TEA AT THE FAB

There are a few simple ways to make ourselves and others feel better in our daily lives. Awareness is one of them!

Please join us and share your tips and tools on What makes you feel good! A dedicated “Take Care” Board will be placed in Petal 2 until the end of September. Post its and markers will be available. You may also bring an inspiring picture.
We appreciate your contributions in line with the Institute’s values of respect.

CULTIVATE GOOD HABITS!

The way we eat impacts our performance and overall wellbeing when it comes to both our bodies and our minds. Being mindful about when, what, and how we eat can help you keep healthy habits through the academic year.

Look out for the board in front of our cafeteria including suggestions and recommendations from our dietitians.

During the Wellbeing Day, Novae distributes free apples from a regional farm.

START YOUR DAY NICELY

To start your day in a nice way, we invite you to join us at the Fab for a musical contribution (live) with piano player Meta Červ along with a coffee/tea cookie from 9h00 to 11h00.

Meta Červ is a pianist from Slovenia, currently completing a double master's degree in accompaniment and pedagogy at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, already having obtained a master's degree as a concert pianist and a bachelor's degree in Neuchâtel. She has had the opportunity to work on musical projects with prestigious institutions such as the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Orchestre Suisse Romande. Her passion for music has always driven her to explore different styles. For this special event, Meta offers you a varied musical journey, from classical music to pop classics to jazz, and much more.

Come relax and start your Friday morning differently with music. Meta looks forward to sharing this musical experience with you.

OUR AMAZING BRAIN FUNCTIONS!

How to manage our attention… and avoid stress

This workshop will help you discover how attention works, as well as practical methods to keep your attentional space clearer. The exercise of focusing our minds can hence be a powerful tool for students to manage their academic tasks and to be more centered in their lives.

Find out more about:

  • How our attention controls the stream of consciousness;
  • Our limitations of physic resources;
  • How attention is allocated during our day and how this determines the shape and content of our life;
  • The appearance of tensions between various demands (adjusting to a new environment, attending courses, adapting to the assignments of a professor, organising your schedule) and the natural limitations of the available attention space which is a major issue for a student;
  • Ways to reduce this tension and anxiety, the fear of inadequacy, and to enjoy life as a student.

The Heart Coherence is a particular state of harmony between the body, the mind, and the emotions. It can be reached by practicing specific, simple yet powerful techniques (breathing and more).

These techniques can have very interesting effects on:

  • Stress reduction
  • Cognitive capacities (attention, memory)
  • Emotional balance
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep quality

A few minutes of daily coherence practice can reinforce the feeling of self-regulation capacity, that can be valuable for students or employes of the Graduate Institute.

During this workshop, participants will get information about the link between the heart and the brain, and practice exercises to learn how to achieve this self-regulation of the heart-brain state.

Key elements of the workshop:

  • Introduction to the fundamental elements of heart coherence
  • Guided exercises (sitting, and moving)
  • Guided meditation
  • Discussion
  • Take-home document
