The Institute is pleased to announce the creation of the Centre for Finance and Development in partnership with the Pictet Foundation. The Centre is dedicated to research in the interrelated areas of international finance, development economics, and financial history. It situates the Graduate Institute at the forefront of this promising field of study.
The Centre's Director is Professor Jean-Louis Arcand and it benefits from the expertise of three new professors, Ugo Panizza, Yi Huang, and Lore Vandewalle as well as a half dozen other eminent scholars including Marc Flandreau, Cédric Tille and Charles Wyplosz. Its mission is to carry out high-level research, to provide commissioned expertise and executive education modules, and to be a forum for forward-looking reflection. Thanks to the Centre, the Institute will also strengthen its students' knowledge of the role of finance in world affairs, especially in the field of development. This the eighth of the Institute's centres and research programmes.
The official inauguration of the Centre will take place on Wednesday, 21 November and will feature a lecture by Ricardo Hausmann, Professor at the Harvard Kennedy School.
