Psychological Support

Are you encountering medical or psychological problems? Are you experiencing difficulties related to stress and anxiety? The Student Wellbeing & Support is here to help.

Our role is to support and guide you through personal- or study-related situations. Whatever your need, we will work to find a solution that is in your best interest. Depending on your request, we may have to direct you towards another service at the Institute or a specialized external service.

The members of the Student Wellbeing & Support Team (two counselors and in-house psychologists) are subject to the principle of independence and a duty of confidentiality. This means that the Student Wellbeing & Support may only share certain information with a third party with your consent, in case of exceptional circumstances (e.g. endangerment of life) or in the event of legal obligation.

Our Wellbeing & Support Counselors, Eliane Minassian-Kellermann and Michal Sela may help orientate you towards a specialist and make an appointment, provide information and lend an ear to support you in a time of need.

HOW OUR COUNSELING SESSIONS WORK:

  • Students are offered up to five free orientation sessions per semester with a psychologist (member of the Geneva Association of Psychologists, AGPsy) at the Geneva Graduate Institute.
  • Orientation sessions are 45-minutes long.
  • Sessions assess the student's concern(s) and facilitate further access to the Psychological Support Service at the University of Geneva or another institution according to their needs. Please note that our in-house psychologists cannot follow patients for a full treatment and are only available for initial support.
  • We would appreciate your comments or feedback about your session here.

During Course Periods (September-December and February-May):

Make an appointment with a psychologist from AGPsy on either Tuesday or Thursday between 17:30 and 20:30. The meeting can be held in person or online and in this case an invitation link to attend your appointment will be sent prior to the session.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please cancel your appointment 24-hours in advance via the confirmation email. No-show appointments will be charged CHF 20.

During the Summer and Winter Breaks:

The Student Wellbeing & Support Service remains available for students in need. An appointment can be requested by email to wellbeing-support@graduateinstitute.ch.

In addition to services provided by the Geneva Graduate Institute, the University of Geneva offers professional support for various mental health concerns. Sessions can be held in English.

Feel free to reach out to wellbeing-support@graduateinstitute.ch for any questions or if you need help to make an appointment.
