Dealing with Crises arising from Conflicts and Disasters: Follow-up to ILO Recommendation No. 205

Project Description

In June 2017, the International Labour Organization (ILO) adopted its latest international labour standard in the form of Recommendation No. 205 on Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience. As part of the sensitization and follow-up process, the ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) mandated the CCDP in order to produce two deliverables:

  • A Worker’s Guide to Recommendation 205; and

  • A Training Manual for representatives of workers’ organizations operating in settings of conflict and disasters.

This research work, conducted between April and December 2018, consisted inter alia of accompanying (for data collection and expert presentations) a series of five regional ILO workshops in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, and Tunisia with high-level representatives of workers’ organizations. It also involved co-facilitating a regional training course in Togo and a global worker’s academy in the ILO’s International Training Centre in Turin, Italy.

Both deliverables are due to be published, in multiple languages, in the first half of 2019.
