Abstract
Direct peace talks were resumed in September for the first time since 2008 only to be derailed quickly by a dispute over Israeli settlements. What can be expected from a renewal of efforts to resolve the complex and longstanding conflict between Israel and Palestine? What still lies in the way of peace in the region?

Graduate Institute Professor of Development Studies, Riccardo Bocco, will give a public presentation providing analytical insights into the past year's deadlock in the Israeli-Palestine conflict/peace process by focusing on the intertwined relationship between domestic and international stakes. He will discuss the roles of Hamas, the Palestinian Authority as well as Israel’s Netanyahu government.

This News Briefing will take place in English. The speaker can take questions in French and English.
