Perspectives on Global Development 2010: Shifting Wealth

Add to Calendar

A major realignment of the global economy has taken place in the last two decades. Economic and political power has been shifting towards the developing world and emerging economies thanks to high and sustained growth rates in large developing countries, particularly the Asian giants of China and India. Large developing countries are now among the major players shaping global macroeconomic conditions.
At the same time, the number and intensity of economic ties between developing countries have been increasing. These ‘South-South’ flows of trade, aid and investment between developing countries are the direct channels through which the rise of emerging economies can have an impact on poorer countries.
OECD Perspectives on Global Development: “Shifting Wealth” examines this realignment in the global economy and assesses what it means for development.
