The Institute is pleased to announce that another one of its former students has been chosen to represent his country to international organisations. On 26th March, Robert Tiendrebeogo took up his latest post as the new Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the United Nations and other international organisations in Vienna.

During his career with Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paul Robert Tiendrebeogo has served in various capacities. He was Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Burkina Faso to the United Nations in New York (2008-2011) and Ambassador and Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the country (2007-2008). He also served as Director of the Department of International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2003-2007), Counsellor in the Department of Research and Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2003), Technical Advisor to the Minister of Regional Integration (2001-2002) as well as Director of the Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation (2000-2001). Prior to that, he was Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Burkina Faso to the United Nations in New York (1995-2000), Counsellor and later Head of the Directorate of Legal and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1993-1995) and Counsellor to the Department of Political Affairs/UN Desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1990-1993). Paul Robert Tiendrebeogo is also the founder of the Consulting Firm Multi-Conseils-Associés.

Paul Robert Tiendrebeogo holds a Diploma in Diplomatic Studies from the Institut de Relations Internationales du Cameroun, a Diploma in Advanced Public International Law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies of Geneva (1988) and a Master's Degree in Law from the University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).

Alumni have also recently become permanent representatives for countries such as Nepal, Angola, China, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
