Announcing Two New Summer Programme Modules

The Geneva Graduate Institute is proud to announce two new modules for its Summer Programme: “Economic Globalization and Fragmentation” and “The Rise of the Rest: Rethinking Global Governance in a World of Multiples”.

Led by Professor Ugo Panizza, head of the International Economics Department, “Economic Globalization and Fragmentation” will offer participants a comprehensive understanding of global economic dynamics, through a combination of expert lectures, interactive discussions, and field visits.

The appeal of this module lies in addressing pressing global issues—such as financial integration, geoeconomics, and debt sustainability in developing countries—while equipping participants with the tools to navigate complex global economic challenges.

“Economic Globalization and Fragmentation” will run from 23 to 27 June 2025.

The Rise of the Rest: Rethinking Global Governance in a World of Multiples” will be led by Professor Dêlidji Eric Degila and will explore how the global governance of complex and intertwined challenges such as human mobility, global health, or social justice is reshaped in an evolving world.

This module offers a unique opportunity to reflect critically on new global governance arrangements to address transnational challenges in a volatile and changing world. A particular emphasis will be put on issues related to intellectual property, pandemics preparedness, climate change or forced migration. Successful partnerships to tackle these global challenges, including public -private partnerships will be explored, and the growing role and Global South players notably Africa will be discussed.

“The Rise of the Rest: Rethinking Global Governance in a World of Multiples” will run from 21 to 25 July 2025.

The two new modules join four others: “Humanitarianism: Its History and Politics”, “The UN in a Changing World”, “From Diplomacy to New Diplomacies”, and “Digital Technologies, Democracy and International Relations”.

The Geneva Graduate Institute Summer Programme runs from 16 June to 25 July 2025 and is open to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students hoping for a taste of graduate studies in the field of international affairs, as well as to professionals hoping to strengthen their understanding of international affairs and/or the UN. Each module runs for one week, and students can register for one or multiple modules.

Summer Programme registrations for 2025 are now open.
