A team of courageous rangers protect Virunga, home to the planet's last remaining mountain gorillas, from armed militia, poachers and the dark forces struggling to control the rich natural resources of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Nominated for best documentary at this year's Academy Awards, the film will be screened in English and French, with English sub-titles.

Entry is free, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.


The film, on the occasion of World Environment Day, will be followed by a debate, Virunga World Heritage Park: A battle to survive, with:

  • John Scanlon, Secretary-General, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)
  • Christine Batruch, Vice President Corporate Responsibility, Lundin Petroleum
  • Marc Hufty, Professor of Development Studies, Graduate Institute

Moderator:

  • Samantha Newport, Global Communications Advisor to UNDP’s Green Commodities Programme and former DRC government spokesperson on Virunga National Park
