at the Geneva Internet Platform
World Meteorological Organization Building (WMO)
7bis, avenue de la Paix, Geneva

While the telegraph enabled faster communication among capitals in the period prior to 1914, it also contributed to confusion and misunderstanding. One of the lessons from the telegraph era is that the speed and the immediacy of communication do not always provide positive results.

This seminar will discuss parallels between the telegraph and the Internet, and lessons that we can draw from history. It is organized by the Geneva Internet Platform in partnership with the Austrian and Serbian Permanent Missions to the United Nations in Geneva.
