Add to Calendar

Fracking has been in the news a lot recently. France has banned it; Britain has conditionally approved it; China, Algeria, Argentina and many countries in Europe look to its potential; Canada and the US have largely embraced it.

In developed countries around the world hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, a key method of extracting unconventional oil and gas resources, has been hailed as a solution to energy dependence and a boon to ailing economies by some, and denounced as an environmental disaster by others.

Oil and gas expert Giacomo Luciani will discuss the promises and pitfalls of fracking as well as how the competitiveness of the United States and Europe are affected by their current policies on the practice.
