Burma: A Rocky Road Towards Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms

Sheila Bordier holds a BA in socio-cultural anthropology with an emphasis on South East Asia and a further degree in international human rights law. Over the past decade, she has held different positions at various levels of NGOs and United Nations Agencies.

Currently serving as Executive Director of the Third Force Network and NGO Representative to the United Nations, she has until recently been working with the AAPP, a Burmese NGO, in the development of a Human Rights Advocacy Strategy for the release of Political Prisoners in Burma. Over the past 15 years, Sheila Bordier has worked towards supporting NGO efforts at the UN and UNESCO in Policy Dialogue, and has represented a variety of International NGOs at the UN Human Rights Council.
