This class is an introduction to political ecology, the ways societies relate to their environment, with a special emphasis on power relations and critical thinking. We start our journey with the emergence of this interdisciplinary field and go through its intellectual developments to the present, collecting operational tools along the way. Half of the class is dedicated to 'seminars', collective discussion of texts, empirical cases and students projects. At the end of the class, participants will have a good knowledge of the field and will have learned and practiced some of its fundamental approaches and tools.
