Our fundraising campaign

The Institute is actively involved in a fundraising campaign to garner support for its institutional development projects. The objective of this campaign, set in March 2008 to raise 50 million Swiss francs by 2012, was surpassed in 2010 thanks to the hard work and dedication of a dynamic team, the support of our Patronage Committee, and the generosity of several foundations and patrons.

Why are we involved in this campaign? The Institute strives for excellence and to become one of the foremost institutions in its field. To achieve this, we have invested over the past few years in several areas:

  • the construction of the Campus de la paix in the heart of international Geneva:
  • excellence in education, by recruiting twenty-five new professors and extending the range of courses offered;
  • the quality and relevance of our expertise, by strengthening our research and creating specialised centres and programmes;
  • the reinforcement of our executive education, by offering programmes tailored to the specific needs of international actors;
  • the expansion of a worldwide network, by developing partnerships and welcoming researchers from all over the world.

These investments were made possible thanks to the one-time contribution by public authorities (the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Geneva) of 100 million Swiss francs, principally to fund "Maison de la paix".

We have been able to come close to matching that amount by raising funds among foundations and patrons.

Results of this ongoing campaign are most encouraging and demonstrate the confidence our supporters have that the Institute represents an opportunity for Geneva and Switzerland, and that it can and must contribute towards facing the challenges of tomorrow.

Today, while continuing our main fundraising campaign, we turn our focus to our students and are seeking the support of our alumni and friends to create more scholarships and awards.
