Scholarships awarded by the Graduate Institute

A significant number of scholarships are awarded each year to students attending our Master and PhD programmes. In 2012, 32 % of Master and PhD students benefit from these scholarships.

All candidates to the Institute’s regular Master and PhD programmes are eligible to apply. Scholarship requests must be submitted along with candidate’s application before 15 January 2013.

The allocation of scholarships is based on the evaluation of the candidate's academic merit and financial need. Scholarships are awarded for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

 

Types of Scholarships 

 

  • Full scholarships

Full scholarships generally amount to CHF 18,000 per year and include an exemption of the Institute’s tuition fees. Some full scholarships are awarded subject to specific conditions (duration of study and/or geographical origin of students).

  • Tuition scholarships

These scholarships offer students an exemption of the Institute’s tuition fees for one academic year.

Other financial assistance

 

Note: Students in receipt of grants from sources other than the Institute or the Swiss Government are required to pay the Institute’s tuition fees.

Loans

 

Candidates from the USA

The Institute is recognised by US Authorities for the "US Direct Loans" programme (institutional code OPEID). For more information, pleaes contact : externalloans@graduateinstitute.ch

US Candidates can also request the option Sallie Mae (private loans for US students studying abroad).

 

Candidates from the UK :

Candidates from Canada :

The Institute is recognised by the programme « British Columbia Student Aid ». Please check details here : www.StudentAidBC.ca. The Institute's code is QUUK.

For Canadian candidates from other provinces, you may contact your « Provincial Ministry of Education » to benefit from financial assistance or loans. The Institute can be recognised by Provincial Ministry, please fee free to contact us. 

Employment possibilities at the Institute
 

There are a certain number of paid employment opportunities available at the Graduate Institute including teaching assistant positions and general support positions (telephone operators, library assistants, IT assistants, etc).
