Network ProjectsThe Institute participates, as the lead institution or partner, in a dozen research projects with other stakeholders in Switzerland and in the world. Among the most significant, include: ACQWA | Assessing Climate Impacts on the Quantity and Quality of WaterThis is a multi-stakeholder project involving 37 academic institutions from Europe, Latin America and Asia. Funded by the European Commission and hosted by the University of Geneva, it examines the relationship between climate change and water challenges, primarily in mountainous regions. National Centre of Competence in Research | North-SouthThe «Governance & Conflict» research group based partly within the Institute is a component of the national NCCR North South programme funded by the SNSF and the SDC. Its primary areas of theoretical research are governance and gender, and its principal topics are biodiversity, urban risk and citizenship. NCCR Democracy 21The research project, «Democratising global institutions: The WTO as an emerging polity», based in the Institute is a component of the national NCCR Democracy 21 programme funded by the SNSF. It explores legitimacy of governance within the context of the WTO.
