Graduate Institute and ICRC sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Graduate Institute and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which enhances and widens their cooperation in international relations and international humanitarian law and diplomacy. The agreement, signed on 4 April at Maison de la Paix by Philippe Burrin, Director of the Graduate Institute and Peter Maurer, President of the ICRC, will promote cooperation on research projects, outreach activities, professional training and career opportunities for our students.

The Memorandum, which consolidates the existing strong relations between the two parties, will allow ICRC to benefit from the Graduate Institute’s expertise in international relations and development, while letting the Institute avail of ICRC’s operational experience and legal expertise.

The same day, Peter Maurer delivered a lecture at the Graduate Institute on the legal and operational challenges of urban warfare. You can watch his talk below.
