The INP programme serves working professionals at the mid-career to senior career level, who hold or aspire to leadership positions in government, international organisations and NGOs--as well as those in private sector seeking relevant skills and exposure. It has proven to be relevant for those working across the fields of negotiations, public policy, strategic planning, governance, communications & advocacy, or general management within the public, private and non-profit sectors.
Academic background: bachelor's degree minimum (no particular discipline is required), with many participants having a prior master's degree and some with PhD
Professional work in a relevant field of several years (full-time / post-bachelor) is required. This is open to those from across public, private or NGO sectors; generally, those offered admission have demonstrated progressive growth in responsibility in their career and most who join the cohort bringing 10 or more years of experience
Selection is primarily based on professional background, candidate's motivation and applicability for current work or future career opportunities
Proficiency in English (no certificate is required, although interviews by skype or in-person in Geneva may be requested to validate capacity for graduate-level study in this professional context)
1. Fill in the online application form
The online application will prompt you for the following information:
- basic demographic info and your academic and work history
- a brief description of current (or most recent) role/position and responsibilities
- a motivation statement (2-3 paragraphs, or no more than one page typed and copy/pasted into the form)
contact information for two references*
* we will only contact your references after confirming with you; however their names and details are required on the form. Generally, these should be work references (can be colleague-peers, supervisors, mentors or clients) who can speak to your professional context; however if you want to include an academic referee (former professor) there should still be one from your professional/work background.
2. Send us scanned copies of your prior academic diplomas (by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, once you submit your online application form).
Upon electronic receipt of the completed online application, an academic evaluation will be made by the Admission Office to determine if the programme provides an appropriate challenge to the applying participant.
- After applications are received, short-listed candidates may be invited for a short interview with the Programme Director (either in Geneva or via telephone or Skype chat--often required for those who did not already have an individual visit with us on campus), before final admission results are awarded.
The admissions committee reserves the right to contact your references (but you will be notified in advance in such cases) before making its final decision
Decisions are made on a rolling basis; the applying participant will receive an answer to the application within a month of completion (following the interview), unless contacted for additional information. Some candidates may ultimately be placed on a waiting list, depending on the offers of admission outstanding, space availability, etc.
Applications are being accepted on a space-available basis. The programme has rolling admissions, which means that decisions on the application are made within about two or three weeks of completion.
We encourage participants to notify us by email of your intention to apply, so we can guide you through the process. Individual appointments (in person or via skype) can be arranged with the programme director upon request.
