Mediation in Crisis Situations
Negotiation Action Day
What are the possibilities and limits of mediation in crisis situations?
This interactive and creative one-day experimental forum combines group and case-study work with analytical insights. Participants will engage with several cases of international mediation from the past and the present in order to analyse trends and best practices.
Acquire applicable knowledge and tools such as:
- the role of mediation in a “fragile” context;
- the differences between mediation, facilitation, negotiation and arbitration;
- sensitivity for gender and cultural issues in mediation.
- Dr Alain Sigg, Independent mediator, member of the Swiss MoFA Expert team for civilian peacebuilding, president of ae-Centre, a Swiss based NGO focusing on mediation in Northern Africa
