Jump-starting students’ careers in consulting
On 18 May, the Geneva Consulting Network, an initiative set up by Graduate Institute students with support from the Institute’s Alumni Relations & Career Services, organised an “Immersion Day” for students interested in consulting careers.
The day involved a consulting case workshop, a CV and personal fit workshop, and a round-table with alumni and consultants from PwC, McKinsey, Dalberg Global Development Advisors and Vera Solutions.
The Geneva Consulting Network was launched in 2016 to give Graduate Institute students experience in strategy consulting by partnering with professional consultants to provide advice for NGOs working on social, environmental and managerial challenges. Since launching, GCN has run projects with UNICEF, UN Women, ENDA (a small Kenyan NGO), and a multitude of other NGOs.
"GCN is a very interesting experience and very good for personal growth", said Cody Corcoran (Master in International Affairs), GCN’s Director of Training and Development. "Our students get a lot out of it, getting consulting training and hands-on consulting experience in the field, working on projects with big consulting firms as well as smaller firms, NGOs and international organisations."
