Background and mission
The Lilly MDR-TB Partnership was created to help address the challenge of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). This public-private partnership mobilizes 22 partners on five continents to increase access to effective medications in high-burden countries, and focus global resources on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of patients with MDR-TB.

Health-related activities
The Lilly MDR-TB Partnership works in more than 80 countries, with a particular focus on the four countries where the MDR-TB burden is highest: China, India, Russia and South Africa. The Partnership adopts a multi-pronged approach and covers prevention, care, training, surveillance, awareness, community support, stigma elimination, and the transfer of technology to ensure the availability of quality drugs.
Governance and staff
The Partnership’s secretariat is located within the International Aid Unit, located in the Geneva office of Eli Lilly and Company.
Budget
Lilly is contributing 120 million US dollars in cash, medicines and technology, to fight MDR-TB, and has also donated an additional 15 million US dollars to the Lilly TB Drug Discovery Initiative to accelerate the discovery of new drugs to treat TB.
