The Graduate Institute and the Government of Switzerland offer a number of scholarships to support talented students who have a clear financial need:
- The Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).
- The Middle East / Africa Scholarship offers financial support for talented postgraduate students from Middle Eastern or African countries to study during two years full-time at the Graduate Institute. Candidates must have a diploma from a university Africa or in the Middle East, or hold citizenship of located int these regions. They must demonstrate financial need, a clear interest on international affairs and/or development issues, and an excellent academic performance.
- The Geneva Refugee Scholarship offers financial support for talented young people from conflict-ridden countries who have a B or F permit refugee status and live in Switzerland. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, a clear interest on international affairs and/or development issues, and an excellent academic performance.
