Stephen Browne is founder and co-director of the Future United Nations Development System (FUNDS) project, Senior Fellow of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, Graduate Center, City University of New York, visiting lecturer at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, and vice-chair of the Advisory Council on the UN System. He worked for the United Nations for more than 30 years and was UN Representative in newly-independent Ukraine and in Rwanda. From 2006 until 2009, he was Deputy Executive Director of the International Trade Centre in Geneva.
He spent more than half of his time with the UN in developing countries as an observer, manager and coordinator of multilateral aid. During that time he wrote and made presentations based on his experience. He has written eight books on aid, development and the UN.
