System Error

Cine@IHEID

with the Festival du Film Vert

Auditorium Ivan Pictet
Maison de la paix, Geneva

Why are we so obsessed with economic growth, despite knowing that perpetual growth will kill us in the end? System Error looks for answers to this principal contradiction of our time and considers global capitalism from the perspective of those who run it. In this manner, the film not only makes the absurdity of our growth-centred system uncomfortably perceptible, but also strikingly questions the seemingly irrefutable rules of the game within a bigger context.

This documentary (2018, 96 minutes, in English) will be followed by a panel discussion with:

  • Daniel Badoux, Member, Réseau Objection de Croissance
  • Debopriya Banerjee, Forex Specialist, Symbiotics
  • Filipe Calvão, Assistant Professor, Anthropology and Sociology, the Graduate Institute, Geneva (moderator)
  • Sophie Swaton, Lecturer, Institute of Geography and Sustainability, University of Lausanne

The screening is organised in partnership with the Festival du Film Vert.

Entry is free, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
