How to apply?

The Admission Office (admission@graduateinstitute.ch) is responsible for the administrative processes supporting the recruitment, admission, registration and examination of graduate students.

•We offer two programmes in economics:

• A master's programme (MIS or Master in Internation Studies) specialized in economics for students with a good undergraduate degree in economics. This program offers a rigorous training, which prepares students for jobs as economists in the public and private sector.
• A doctoral program (PhD). Admission to this program is normally upon completion of the MIS program for students with an excellent record. Direct admission is possible but limited to students with an excellent Master's degree who can demonstrate that their interests match the Institute's emphasis on international economics and on policy applications.

• Admission to both MIS and PhD programs takes place once a year. Applications must be sent bewteen early to mid-September and end 15 January 2010. A link is provided on the institute's admission page for online applications.

• Students wishing to apply for the Master or PhD program in International Economics at the Graduate Institute are kindly asked to read the General Admission Conditions on the Institute's website.

• In addition to the general admission conditions, the Economics department requires that applicants to the Master and PhD program to take the GRE (school code: 2258; department code: 1901)

• Admission is organized at the Institute level. Please contact the Admission Office (admission@graduateinstitute.ch) for any matter concerning the administrative process.
