International Economics

Economics at the Graduate Institute offers a unique combination of a rigorous training, an emphasis on policy applications in an international context and on affordable terms.

 
Our programs in economics carefully blend mastering the analytical tools of modern economics and applying them to policy relevant issues. Our degrees will prepare you for careers in a broad array of institutions in academia, international institutions, public bodies as well as the private sector.
The Institute offers a unique mix of assets in studying economics:
 

• A faculty of internationally established researchers with extensive policyexperience. Professors are regular contributors in top level academic journals. They also interact on a sustained basis with policy institutions and bring you a “hands-on” view on policy issues. Frequent presentations of research by external visitors reinforce your exposure to the frontiers of economics research.
   
• A broad training beyond economics. During your studies of economics you will have the opportunity to attend courses in the Institute’s other disciplines. We offer a training that is focused on economics, but not limited to it. Your studies will thus provide you with a broad perspective that will be highly valuable in your career.
   
• Our location. In addition to offering a pleasant quality of life, Geneva hosts a broad range of international orga- nizations with which faculty members maintain close links. These organizations offer opportunities for internships, in addition to conferences.
   
• Cost. Our tuition is low by international standards (CHF 1’500 per semester for Swiss residents, CHF 2’500 for other), and scholar- ships and opportunities for work at the Institute provide many of our students with substantial financial support.
