Le défi social du développement : mondialisation, croissance, pauvreté et inégalités
Ce séminaire offre une réflexion approfondie et interdisciplinaire sur l’impact social et humain d’un processus de mondialisation très influencé par une idéologie néolibérale qui fait de la croissance économique son objectif essentiel. Il accorde une attention toute particulière à l’analyse de l’aggravation des inégalités sociales dans les domaines de l’éducation, de la santé, du travail, de la protection sociale et de l’accès aux services financiers qui accompagnent la progression fulgurante des inégalités économiques de revenu et de fortune. Il pose enfin la question de savoir si c’est la réduction de la pauvreté économique ou la diminution des inégalités sociales qui contribue le plus au développement social et humain. Après quelques séances d’introduction à la problématique et de présentation des principaux outils conceptuels et indicateurs statistiques utilisés dans l’étude des inégalités sociales, la majeure partie du séminaire sera consacrée à une analyse sectorielle et régionale de la progression de ces inégalités et de leurs conséquences sur le développement humain dans le contexte de la mondialisation.
