For the last couple of decades, global business networks has been operating at finer resolutions in terms of where and when individual tasks are carried out. While this trend has attracted a lot of attention, there are many problems in examining various economic characteristics and importance of this new business model, simply because the available statistics could not capture its complexity. One solution is to go deeper in uncovering the phenomena in a specific case of product or industry. In this presentation, authors of the book “Nokia in the Sea of Change”, would map out the whole global supply chain from raw materials/idea to a consumer’s final purchase of Nokia’s products. The presentation would examine geographical breakdown of the global value chain of the products, as well as industrial player’s contributions and value added. |
