Profile

Dr. Carpenter is a post-doc researcher in economist at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and Executive Director of the Centre.

 

 

Research

Her current work focuses on the economics of global and regional valuechain production, on the link between financial markets and trade, andthe impacts of the 2008-2009 global crisis. In previous work, she hascovered issues including the implications of monetary and financialintegration and other policy interventions for trade, FDI andcompetition, globalization and its impacts on labour demand andinternational competitiveness, trade in services, and estimates oftrade openness and protectionism. Increasingly, Dr. Taglioni workswith firm-level data sets, exploiting the literature on firms’heterogeneity, and industry composition changes.

 

 

Background

Dr. Carpenter received her PhD in Economics from the Graduate Institute of Geneva in 2006. Her prior experience includes almost a decade in management consultancy.
