Please complete the application form and submit it electronically. A non-returnable administrative fee of CHF 100 will be charged. Payment can be made directly using the form.
Handwritten Application
Download the application form, or request a copy from the Admissions Office [admission@graduateinstitute.ch], complete it and submit it with all the relevant documents. A non-returnable administrative fee of CHF 150 will be charged..
Payment of administrative and pre-registration fees
Payment can be made by credit card, by postal draft (in any Swiss post office), bank transfer or international money order.

Application
A complete application file must include ALL the following documents (a certified translation must be provided for all documents in a language other than English, French, German, Italian or Spanish):
- The application form duly completed and signed;
A letter of motivation explaining your reasons for applying to study at the Institute (800 words maximum);
Two complete curriculum vitae;
Two copies of the official transcripts of all the grades obtained in all university exams, accompanied by grade scales and their values (with or without the final diploma);
Two certified copies of all university diplomas and qualifications obtained;
Two certified copies of secondary school diplomas;
Two copies of the page(s) of your passport with your surname, first name and nationality. If you are a foreigner resident in Switzerland, please provide two copies of your residence permit;
Four recent passport-sized photographs with your name written clearly on the back;
Three letters of reference written in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish. Each letter must be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing your name and signed on the back by the author.
In addition, where applicable, you must also provide the following document(s) with your application:
- Proof of payment of the administrative fee (for those who did not make the payment online);
A photocopy of the residence permit (for foreign students resident in Switzerland);
Photocopies of all language certificates and/or the waiver request duly completed (see the waiver request);
- A copy of the results of the GRE test (for applicants of the Master or PhD in International Studies, with a specialisation in economics);
- The grant application form (if you are applying for a study grant).
For the Ph.D. Programmes candidates:
- A copy of your Master's dissertation;
- An outline thesis proposal (with at the minimum a provisional title and a brief description of the issue to be researched).
Only completed applications will be considered. Please note that you are eligible to apply even if you are not due to receive your diploma until June 2010.

Follow-up
Applicants who applied online are able to monitor the status of their application. Applicants who have not used the online form will be notified of the Institute’s decision in writing.
Decision
The decision on admission as well as on financial support is mailed to the candidates in March. Decisions cannot be appealed.
Students Acceptance
Pre-registration fee (confirmation of admission)
Students whose application has been successful must confirm their acceptance through the payment of a fee of CHF 1,000 which will be deducted from the first term’s fees.
Deadline for payment of the fee: 15 April 2010.
Registration at the University of Geneva
Students whose application has been successful must register with the University of Geneva. The relevant forms will be sent with the confirmation of admission.
