The Library of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is a library specialised in the domain of international relations and development. It is the result of the 2007 merger between the Graduate Institute of International Studies (HEI) and the Graduate Institute of Development Studies (IUED) Libraries.

Situated closed to the international organisations, it is open to all persons interested in international relations and/or development.

Our collections

Our collections today are the result of the fusion between the HEI and IUED Libraries, created respectively in 1927 and 1961. These two libraries have accumulated, over time, an important quantity of documents. Users today have access to:

  • many e-resources (databases, e-journals, e-books, working papers, etc.)

Domains covered are international relations and development in an interdisciplinary manner (law, history, political science, social sciences, economics, etc.), and more particularly:

  • international law and international organisations
  • international security, peace and conflict prevention
  • development economics and development aid
  • human rights
  • international migrations and refugees
  • international commercial relations and WTO
  • gender studies from a developmental point of view
  • applied sciences in developing countries (agronomy, public health and environment)

The Library is also a depository library of United Nations since 1947, OSCE, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and Asian Development Bank Institute (ADB) documents.
