Message from the Director
Dealing with today's global challenges requires highly qualified and cosmpolitan personnel with a keen interest in cultural diversity. A first-rate academic institution is a repository of talent and expertise, and offers the professionl world the benefits of some of the best competencies.
The IMAS places tremendous importance on the value of different forms of knowledge. Issues are tackled from a North-South perspective, but also from a South-South perspective, which paves the way for inclusion of the experiences and knowledge of participants from the South and the North, as well as those of our partners in Switzerland and overseas.
The IMAS programme offered by the Institute is unlike any other: it enables professionals from developing countries and from Switzerland to follow a unique programme specially tailored to their concerns. Rather than focusing solely on the acquisition of academic or technical knowledge, the programme seeks to strengthen the capacity of participants to undertake socio-economic and political analyses, open their eyes to the reality of other contexts and view their own environments in a fresh light. These features also contribute towards strengthening their social and communications skills, and fostering mutual understanding and an ability to adapt.
