ApplicationThe 7th Global South WorkshopFollowing the success of four previous workshops, we are pleased to announce the 7th Global South Workshop from 11 to 18 August 2012 in Accra, Ghana. The 2012 workshop is jointly organised by the Graduate Institute, Geneva and the University of Ghana, Accra. This workshop is open to outstanding doctoral students from the global south pursuing advanced graduate research in areas bridging the fields of international studies and development studies, broadly defined, and working in disciplines such as anthropology, history, law, politics and political science, and economics. Scholars specialising in conflict, post-conflict societies, migration, and governance are particularly encouraged to apply. The main aim of the workshop is to help build a network of young scholars from southern countries by providing them opportunities to interact and share experiences with fellow scholars from the south, and develop collaborative frameworks and projects that may help advance the cause of southern perspectives in their fields and disciplines. Participants will be expected to present their research at the workshop. They will also have opportunities for professional interaction with faculty and research students. English will be the working language. FundingParticipants will be provided accommodation and receive a contribution towards living expenses. The Institute will also cover return fares for participants enrolled at Southern universities. ConditionsCandidates must fulfill the following conditions:

English proficiencyAll applications and accompanying information (including the summary of the thesis project) must be submitted in English. Selected participants will be expected to present their research at the workshop. The working language will be English. Selection processSelection will be based on the quality of research. Quality being equal, selection may be guided by an interest in promoting thematic coherence at the workshop and regional diversity.
