Centre for International Governance

The Centre for International Governance organises an array of capacity-building activities for professionals from the public and the private sector to facilitate their effective participation in the evolving multilateral environment.

  • Training Programmes: The Centre conceptualizes and organizes courses for government officials, international civil servants, business executives and members of civil society.

15 February 2010 - Training on "New Challenges in Multilateral Governance" - Apply Now!

Training from 06 - 28 May 2010 in Geneva: This course, organized by the Centre in cooperation with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is particularly suited for diplomats to be posted or already posted to Permanent Missions in Geneva. 2 December 2009 - Workshop: Climate Services - Building on the World Climate Conference 3

Sponsored by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment the Centre has organized three workshops on climate change at the CIG this year and one side-event during the World Climate Conference 3 (WCC-3). 27 November 2009 - Podgorica: Signing of MoU with the Government of Montenegro

The Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanging with the Montegrin Human Resources Management Authority in the field of training activities and programmes which will build the basis for a long-term partnership aimed at strenghtening the Montengrin administrative capacity and develop human resources. The program will extend over 3 years and start with a 2-week training course in Podgorica in spring 2010. More...

9-20 November 2009 - 1st Great Lakes Regional Training Programme

The Centre organized the first regional training programme for six countries of the Great Lakes region in collaboration with the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region. The course convened 18 civil servants from Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, the RDC, Uganda and Tanzania to discuss issues of common interest and focus on regional and international governance processes.

16 October 2009 -  Global Redesign Initiative Swiss Seminar
The Centre was mandated by the Swiss Governement to collaborate in the organization of a seminar on Global Governance and Global Institutions - Lessons Learned and Ways Ahead, which is part of the Global Redesign Initiative launched by the World Economic Forum at Davos in February 2009. The seminar welcomed high level practitioners and scholars from Geneva and the UN system.

15-29 October 2009 - CABIR 17th Regional Training Programme

Young government officials from Azerbaijan and Georgia took part in the 17th regional training course organized by the Centre's Capacity Building in International Relations (CABIR) Programme. The course took place in Baku and focussed on humanitarian and human rights issues.

4-14 October 2009 - 2nd Study Visit of Russian High Level Civil Servants

For the second consecutive year, the Centre welcomed 10 high level civil servants from the Russian Federation to discuss housing policy issues with Swiss and international experts.
