Climate Services: Building on WCC-3
Workshop, 02.12.2009
09h20 - 12h00, Room 4, CIG, Villa Barton, The Graduate Institute
Sponsored by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, the Centre for International Governance (CIG) of the Graduate Institute has organized three workshops on climate change at the CIG this year and one side-event during the World Climate Conference 3 (WCC-3) in September 2009. The aim of these events was to facilitate dialogue between scientists and policy-makers, bringing together perspectives from various sectors in order to address cross-cutting issues both in developed and developing countries.
As part of this project, a final workshop will take place on 2 December 2009 at the CIG. It will focus on climate information for decision-making and discuss the establishment of a “Global Framework for Climate Services”, which was the main outcome of WCC-3. The Framework is meant to strengthen production, availability, delivery and application of science-based climate prediction and services. A central question for discussions will be how to build the framework in a way which helps states best to identify gaps, needs and their future direction in terms of climate services.
The workshop program and relevant documents can be found on this site.
