Biography:

Achim Wennmann is an expert in economic perspectives on violent conflict, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. He is currently working on statebuilding in hybrid political orders, negotiated exits from shadow economies, and conflict prevention in contexts of large scale business investments.

Dr. Wennmann has a broad research and advisory experience including intellectual mediation support and research coordination of major projects. He serves on the Expert Panel on Leadership in Complex Markets of the International Council of Swedish Industry, and is a member of the Editorial Board of Global Governance.

Previously, Dr. Wennmann has worked at the Small Arms Survey in support of the Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development, and consulted for the OECD’s International Network in Conflict and Fragility. He has also coordinated training courses for young government officials in the South Caucasus (http://www.cabir.org). He holds a Doctorate in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, where he also obtained a Diplôme d’Études Supérieures (DES). He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with Development Studies from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.

Currently, Dr. Wennmann is also Executive Coordinator of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform (http://www.gpplatform.ch).
