Historical Imagination

Finance, Governance and International Policy after the Sub-Prime Crisis

The global economic turmoil that started in 2007 is about much more than a few derivatives designed by smart financial engineers, eventually turned sour. It is about a full-size crisis of capitalism as we have known it since the end of the Cold War. It is about a full-size crisis of earlier social, political, and economic beliefs and consensuses. It is about a full-size crisis of governance and government in the age of globalization.

Whatever the outcome of these crises and the policy changes that may or, in fact, may not result from these events, the political and intellectual landscape will no longer be the same.

The goal of the Historical Imagination project is to take advantage of this moment to energize several long-term research avenues intended to revisit critical aspects of international economic policies over the super-long run, with an eye on modern lessons and perspective.
