Nicolas Pauccar Calcina comes from a long linage of traditional Q'ero shamans, called paqos. He was taught, and continues to learn, under the guidance of his father, the Pampamesayoq, Sebastian Pauccar Flores. Nicolas lives in Cusco, Peru, with his wife and children, and extended Q'ero family. He leads the activities of Ayni-wasi, a cultural and shamanic healing center. He is Cusco representative for Ayni GLOBAL, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving indigenous culture and wisdom.

Geremia Cometti is currently a Teaching Assistant at the Graduate Institute where he is preparing his PhD about the relationship between climate change and migration in the Cusco region, Peru. He holds a BA in "Culture and Human Rights" from the University of Bologna, faculty of Political Science, and a Masters Degree in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.

The lecture will be given in Spanish and simultaneously translated in English.

This lecture is organised by the Development Studies Programme.
